You guessed it, Florida Strawberries!

FSGA logo

Florida strawberries are available all winter long. You can enjoy Florida strawberries all season starting in November and lasting throughout April.

Florida Strawberry Growers Association (FSGA) member farms grow over 11,000 acres of strawberries. This community minded organization produces over 20 million flats per year!

FSGA continues to uphold its mission to be “partners in research, promotion and member/community service”.
This organization values research and education to bring the best, healthiest crops to your table.
Member farms have given Plant City and surrounding area the title, “Winter Strawberry Capital of the World”.

FSGA also invests in the future farmers with scholarships in agricultural studies. Many recipients of these scholarships have gone on to become leaders in Florida agriculture.

Thank you FSGA farms for all your hard work to bring us juicy jewels just in time for the Holidays!

Jammer and berries

Fresh Florida strawberries come to you fully ripe and ready to enjoy. No refrigeration needed. Florida strawberries are best stored at room temperature. Just wash and this fruit is set to go as a snack or into your family’s lunch bags.

Don’t stop there. Think of the possibilities! Try adding Florida Strawberries to:

  • Your favorite drinks like spritzers, lemonade, smoothies, shakes and even eggnog!
  • Warm cereal like oatmeal, grits or cream of wheat on a cold winter morning.
  • Make a quick parfait by layering yogurt, strawberries, granola and whipped cream.
  • Florida Strawberries make cheese trays and Charcuterie boards extra special. Sharp, smoked, goat milk, feta and bleu cheeses pair wonderful with strawberries.

Not only are Florida Strawberries delicious, they are good for you!

Did you know?

  • Eating eight strawberries a day has been shown to lower blood pressure and to improve memory and heart health. Not only that, eating strawberries on a regular basis may lower the risk of some cancers and help reduce obesity.
  • According to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, nutrient-dense foods (like Florida Strawberries) are those providing the greatest amounts of vitamins and minerals with the fewest calories.
  • Strawberries provide essential nutrients and minerals including fiber, potassium, vitamin  C and powerful antioxidants such as anthocyanins, quercetin and ellagic acid.
  • The levels of ellagic acid found in strawberries are five to six times higher than in most other fruits and vegetables. In lab and animal studies, ellagic acid seems to have some anti-cancer properties.

It doesn’t get much easier than my Strawberry Almond Couscous. This dish makes a great warm side or cold pasta salad.
Pearled Couscous cooks fast. The light lime-basil dressing coats each pearl with a flavor boost.
Sweet Florida Strawberries virtually roast themselves without the need to add sugar, corn syrup or honey.

While the roasted strawberries cool, a sweet, naturally juicy syrup forms. Delicious spooned over ice cream or cake too.

Toasted almonds add a bit of crunch. Black sesame seeds mixed with the lime add a smoky slightly spicy taste.
