Let me tell you what I have in mind.

A simple get-together over refreshing Blackberry Ginger Sippers and Blackberry Ginger Beef BBQ.

How does tender, juicy beef simmered in Canada Dry® Blackberry Ginger Ale BBQ sauce sound to you? Start with the crisp, clean taste of real ginger in Canada Dry™. Delicious blackberries offer a taste treat of the season I know you’ll enjoy! The best part is I let my slow cooker do all the work.

Canada Dry® Blackberry Ginger Ale step by step

Season the roast with salt and pepper. Pour on Canada Dry® Blackberry Ginger Ale.
pour Canada Dry® Blackberry Ginger Ale

Stir in the rest of the BBQ ingredients, set the controls and let it do its thing.

When the beef is ready, shred it and put it back in the sauce.

Set the timer for an hour and all the blackberry and ginger flavor cooks into to meat.

The result is a Carolina-style Beef BBQ packed with goodness. Not too sweet and oh so tender and juicy.

How do you feel about brunch? I love it! I am known to be a picky eater. I pick at this and I pick at that. A spoon of scrambled eggs all golden yellow and cradling rich yummy cheese in every nook and cranny. A sweet for sure. It should have cinnamon somewhere either inside or sprinkled on top.
Potato. Yes some kind of potato dish.
Sounds good right?

Prize #4 Vidalia Onion Committee is giving one winner a Martha Stewart Knife Set, cast iron fry pan, cutting board, and fresh Vidalia Onions
About Vidalia Onions: Vidalia onions are unique to a very small region. In fact, they only grow within 20 counties in Georgia (which is also why they are the official state vegetable of Georgia)!
Vidalia onions were discovered back in 1930’s, and just like back then, they are still planted, transplanted and harvested entirely all by hand! Vidalia onions are grown during the winter months, and are only available in stores between April and September,  making them a true seasonal specialty. In order to grow great tasting Vidalias, and to give them their characteristic sweetness, they must be grown in a sandy soil mixture that is low in sulfur (sulfur in soil is what gives onions their hotness). Because of  this sweet flavor, Vidalia onions are incredibly versatile and can be used in any sort of dish; grilling, baking, appetizers, sandwiches, casseroles, and yes, even sweet desserts. Each year, approximately 5-million 40-pound boxes are shipped out around the  entire country – now that’s a lot of onions!

Apple Crisp #SundaySupper

Apple Crisp bakes in its own juices topped with a buttery crumb crust. Serve warm or cold.

appl

Apple Crisp was my Mom’s go to dessert. I’m proud to share her recipe with you today as Sunday Supper celebrates Mom’s favorite recipes.

Apple Crisp plate

I grew up eating a lot of apple crisp. We always seemed to have some around for several reasons.
First, it’s fast to prepare and easy to make.
Second, we always had flour, sugar, butter or margarine and cinnamon in the house.
Third, our neighbor’s grew several apple trees out back and we were always welcomed to pick some.

Apple Crisp close up

My Mom had a terrible sweet tooth. Sometimes the neighbor’s tart McIntosh apples wouldn’t cut it for her crisp. Red Delicious were her choice.
Now if you ever baked with Red Delicious apples you know where I’m going.
Sugar rush for sure!

So I recommend a less sweet but firm apple like the new cross varieties derived from Gala, Honeycrisp, Fuji and McIntosh.

I also prefer mine as a deep dish version with a thick crust. I use an 8x6x2 inch glass dish. It’s like a deep dish apple crumb pie without the crust! 😉
